The surgical procedure to correct the bow leg deformity is not as complicated as many people believe. It is easy, safe, and effective, giving the patient a sense of security.
Pain will be decreased during surgery by spinal anesthetic, with additional epidural analgesia to relieve pain for 3 days following surgery, so there will be nearly no pain during and after surgery. The typical surgical time for both legs is roughly 2.5 hours.

The patient is given cold compresses and his feet are lifted for the first three days after surgery. The drains are withdrawn on day 3 and the pain is relieved; on day 4, the patient can practice standing and walking in the room with the help of a frame or armpit crutches. The patient is discharged from the hospital on day 5 or 7. The incision will be cut after a week, and the patient may practice walking for up to three weeks before removing the crutches and beginning therapy for roughly 3-6 weeks to be able to walk normally. After 8 months, the patient is free to resume sporting activities.

     Operation
